Guitar man

I had the privilege of photographing a very talented musician/songwriter on Saturday.  It's always interesting to witness the metamorphosis of a subject during the shoot.  At first the subject is somewhat tenuous and self conscious, but as the shoot progresses, they become more comfortable and it is at that point that their real personalities show. It was obvious to me that this musician was passionate about his music (aren't all artists?) and had a talent for engaging his audience.  This musician was not only passionate about his music, but was very expressive and animated, which always makes for some great shots.  Good synergy is always essential in whatever you do.  Here are some examples from the shoot.

Here are some of examples JD's work:  JD's songs

Okay, it's not "National Geographic", the "New York Times", or any fancy publication, but one of my photos appeared on the January 20th (2010) edition cover of the Lansing City Pulse.  It's a great story on an upcoming production of "Altar Boyz".  Chad Badgero and the Peppermint Creek Theatre Company will be putting on a fantastic production in a great venue.  Please read the story and support your local thespians.

New Years Resolutions

Okay, last year I set a number of goals for myself that were never realized.  I promised myself that I would follow through this year.  I'm currently in the process of having a new website designed from a talented graphic designer named Sean Wickham (  The design of the website should be finished the end of this month, and I'm anxiously awaiting the final product.  I'm in the process of preparing some photos for the new site.  A newly designed website was a goal from last year.

Another goal for this year is to photograph some really interesting venus.  I'd love to do some shooting in the Southwest or in the mountains of Wyoming (the Snowy Range Mountains in particular).   I am planning to be out there in the spring or summer.  Stay tuned.

Photo Shoot at the Temple Club

I had the opportunity to assist a former Michigan resident with some portfolio shots.  The owners of the Temple Club kindly let us use their space.  The Temple Club is a fantastic place to shoot, vibrant colors and very interesting architecture.  Jason was great, very animated and expressive.   I ended up taking about 400 photographs which will be added to my updated website, which is currently being developed.
